Christophe Galfard. CHRISTOPHE GALFARD holds a PhD. I can see how it makes the concepts more approachable though. I can't praise this book enough.
This book really opens you up to the magnificence and magnitude of our universe to the point it blows your mind. I tried some of the other 'introductory' books but I think they still assume a certain level of understanding. I'm new to this subject and just starting to step back into the world of physics since my GCSE days (a long time ago). In a series of mind-stretching thought experiments readers plunge into the hydrogen atom in a water molecule, there to contemplate the quantum fields that sustain all matter, then shoot out beyond supernovas to ponder the strangely opaque boundary of space-time... these probes into the universe will thrill readers but rarely perplex them... Galfard leaves exhilarated readers eager to share in the forthcoming discoveries. This is the first time in my long life that I have enjoyed being patronised by a very clever person. So much to know and learn about our very existence and how we are all part of one big soup... From the smallest atom to the biggest galaxy and beyond. All the way I kept thinking, can this be, it doesn't make sense! La formation de Christophe est indiquée sur son profil.

Titre original : The Universe in Your Hand – A Journey Through Space, Time, and Beyond Highly recommended for any non-scientist who wants to get a feel for what those scientific-theorist are proposing as the present state of our understanding of the universe.
Still, very well written, informative and makes you want to go out and learn more. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon.
It is fascinating stuff but really difficult to get ones head around. You Are the Universe: Discovering Your Cosmic Self and Why It Matters I never felt so smart and all because of the magic Christophe Galfard performs. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 19, 2019 The subject matter is immense, the ideas and proven facts are mind bending! For children, first.

But that if a theory of physics serves as a solid stepping stone to seeing further and formulating new questions that probe more deeply, then it has a kind of beauty and integrity that is as much as we can ask for from the great thinkers and imaginers of our time. Been on my nightstand for a month. Why Does E=mc2? 8.1K likes. Something Deeply Hidden: Quantum Worlds and the Emergence of Spacetime The Elegant Universe: Superstrings, Hidden Dimensions, and the Quest for the Ultimate Theory He believes the world and its inhabitants would benefit greatly from this, and that kind of matters to him. This really is a step by step guide, taking you on a journey through one of the most exciting subjects there is.
Except in more detail and at a faster pace.
He makes the important point that that a theory of physics, such as Newton’s or Einstein’s doesn’t have to be a theory “of everything” to be “perfect” or of great value to the endeavor of expanding human knowledge and understanding. I now consider myself less massive (thick!).
"“Entertaining and comprehensive… The deft and dazzling imagery makes difficult concepts accessible, streamlining the progression through topics and fulfilling Galfard’s promise to ‘not leave any readers behind.’… Readers looking to expand their knowledge of physics and cosmology will find everything they need here.”"Galfard dispenses with mathematical formulas in this foray into modern physics, making a lively imagination the only portal necessary for general readers hungry for the intellectual excitement of astral and atomic exploration. Maybe I'm just dumb and helpless, but I like to read and learn, which I did. "If Ms. Frizzle were a physics student of Stephen Hawking, she might have written THE UNIVERSE IN YOUR HAND, a wild tour through the reaches of time and space, from the interior of a proton to the Big Bang to the rough suburbs of a black hole. Christophe Galfard : Il me semble que ce qui l’attirait, au début, c’était l’origine de notre Univers.
I am grateful to the author for helping me to understand some of this magical subject matter. Part personal conversation, part travelogue, and part science primer for the non-scientist, The Universe in Your Hand is a delightful and highly educational read." I'm gonna read it again.
